Amy Thorstad

Counselor; Science and Social Studies 6th Grade

Mrs. Thorstad is Holy Spirit School’s counselor, Science and Social Studies teacher for 6th Grade. She graduated from UC Santa Barbara with a B.S. in Biopsychology, followed by her Master of Counseling. Being in a school environment comes naturally to Mrs. Thorstad – her grandmother, all three of her grandmother’s children, and her father were all teachers! She has a heart for young people – she enjoys seeing them fulfill their God-given destiny. Mrs. Thorstad believes learning should be fun!

Among Mrs. Thorstad’s formative experiences was meeting Mother Theresa in Calcutta, India, on Christmas Eve in 1993. She has chosen to model her life after Mother Theresa’s, helping underprivileged and suffering children.

Mrs. Thorstad loves to travel, seeing historical landmarks and beautiful landscapes. She also loves to exercise and teaches fitness classes. She loves her three adult children, the color pink, and Starbucks and Boudin Bakery!
