Fine Arts
Holy Spirit School students receive instruction in the arts one day per week, and depending on the grade level art class runs from 30 minutes to 55 minutes.
The general objectives in art class are three-fold:
- Kindergarten through 3rd grade students are given work that is centered on learning the basic color wheel, shapes, and hand-eye coordination with various art tools
- 4th and 5th grade students are given more intermediate techniques on the color wheel, object and spatial awareness, as well as learning how to use contrast and shading in their art
- 6th through 8th grade students are given advanced art projects and techniques to further hone their skills in the fine arts, abstract arts, and digital media.
As students move through the art curriculum over the years their ability to create, understand, and appreciate art will grow along with their other subjects.
