Denise Bailey

5th Grade Teacher

Mrs. Bailey is the 5th Grade teacher at Holy Spirit School. Her educational background includes an A.S. in business, an A.A. in Early Childhood Education, and a B.S. in Childhood Development with an emphasis on elementary teaching. She also studied Catechetical Foundation to teach Catechism. Furthering her religious education, she is currently studying with Christendom University online.

Mrs. Bailey brings a variety of skills and experience to her classroom. In her 20s, she taught English in preschool and tutored high school students. Later, she worked for Taco Bell, training new incoming general managers to run and manage their units. She also worked for Bank of America for several years as a Merchant Teller.

With a view of the whole child and the understanding that we all learn differently, Mrs. Bailey aims to incorporate multiple learning styles in her classroom – auditory, visual, and kinesthetic. Collaboration is also common in the 5th Grade classroom; in addition to independent work, students work in groups and help one another. Mrs. Bailey is also committed to developing her students’ Catholic faith by living it out in the classroom, at Mass, and in the community. She believes that teaching children is an opportunity to serve God in love.

When she is not in her classroom, Mrs. Bailey enjoys reading spiritual books, the Bible, and spending time in prayer. She also enjoys quiet activities, such as cross-stitch and walks with her family. Mrs. Bailey has 4 adult children and 14 grandchildren and loves to see them physically or via FaceTime.
