Margaret Papoe

8th Grade Teacher

Margaret Papoe, the 8th Grade teacher at Holy Spirit, grew up in a small town in Wisconsin on Lake Michigan and recalls enormous piles of snow every winter! Mrs. Papoe's family moved to California when she was 10, which was when she first ate a taco. She attended Solano College and finished at Mills College with a BA in Economics. She has one daughter, Katie, who is an alumna of Holy Spirit, SPSV, and UC Berkeley. Currently Mrs. Papoe lives in Fairfield with one dog and three cats.

Mrs. Papoe believes that learning should always be a positive experience, and that every day is a fresh start. One of the reasons she loves teaching at Holy Spirit is how the Catholic faith and values are incorporated into class time throughout the day. She came to Holy Spirit as a long-term sub and was offered a position with the 6th Grade class at the end of that year by Sister Mairead, and she has been here ever since.

Mrs. Papoe is working to restore as many traditions as possible that had to be suspended during the pandemic. 8th Grade field trips include seeing "A Christmas Carol" in December, a visit to San Francisco in the spring, and a trip to Six Flags for graduation. Every 8th Grader has a 1st Grade "buddy" with whom they meet every month to attend Mass and do a project. There is the Authors' party in February, and 8th Grade performs a play of the life of Christ in March for the school. 8th grade is a very busy and exciting year at Holy Spirit!
