Teresa Silveira
Kindergarten Teacher
Teresa Silveira is the Kindergarten teacher at Holy Spirit School. Mrs. Silveira is a Bay Area native – she was born in Richmond and moved to Suisun when she was 9 years old (this was when she first became a parishioner at Holy Spirit!). In her 40+ years at a parishioner she has been involved in many ministries, such as Little Church, Bible Camp, Faith Formation (CCD), Youth Group, and the Legion of Mary.
Mrs. Silveira loves teaching young children in a safe, Christ-centered environment where she can share her faith. She has a special devotion to Mary, the Mother of God, and teaches the students about Our Lady of Guadalupe and Our Lady of Fatima and how we as Catholics venerate/honor her. Mrs. Silveira enjoys using hands-on, project-based learning methods in her classroom – she wants her students to enjoy both coming to school and the learning process. She notes that her students are “intelligent, curious, and eager to learn,” and also that they are filled with unconditional love!
Traditionally, Kindergarten visits the zoo during the school year and goes to the theatre to see a play, though this year’s trips are still to be determined as pandemic recovery continues. The Kindergarteners have 6th Grade buddies and they do various projects and activities together like an Easter Egg Hunt. Kindergarteners present Scarecrows and Disguised Turkeys in the Fall, a 100 Day Project in the Winter, and an All About Me poster in the Spring!
Mrs. Silveira graduated from CSU Hayward with a B.S. in Business Administration and Human Resources. She obtained her Multiple Subject BCLAD Teaching Credential from CSU Sacramento. Mrs. Silveira has been married to her husband, Steve, for 23 years and has three adult sons who attended Holy Spirit and St. Patrick-St. Vincent High School.
