Spanish

Senora Diaz teaches Spanish at Holy Spirit. She is a Sacramento State University graduate and has taught Spanish for over 25 years (20 of them here at Holy Spirit). Aside from teaching, Senora Diaz also owns two restaurants, Favela’s Mexican Grill in Fairfield and Vacaville, which have won numerous food awards.

As a college student, Senora Diaz decided to double major in business and her first language, Spanish. When she saw an opportunity to teach Spanish as a second language, she jumped at the chance. These years later, it still inspires her to see her students excited about learning another language and about Latin cultures. Senora Diaz feels that teaching is not about her, that it is about her students and their excitement at growing in proficiency. She loves it when her students ask questions because it demonstrates their interest and engagement in the language.

Senora Diaz has three children, all of whom attended Holy Spirit. She enjoys spending time with them, working out, gardening, and traveling internationally! She also enjoys cooking, with Mexican and Italian cuisines being her favorites. She loves the color red, and her students really love her distinctive red glasses frames!
